Happy Independence Day from my family to yours!  I hope you all enjoy an amazing day, filled with friends, family, too much food and a cocktail or two (or three!)  I'll be back up and running after the long, slow weekend. Cheers!

summer vibes

Just when I finally decide to take the plunge and repaint my black exterior doors and shutters NAVY BLUE, I end up falling in love with black and white all over again for summer.  You just can't beat the combination for summer, especially when paired with lots of seagrass, bamboo and fresh greenery.  Here are a few pretties that are heavy on my radar lately:

Picnic basket / Bamboo flatware set / Gordian weave ebony pillow / Avalon daybed / Rope Bottle Opener / Book / Topiary / Anchor door knocker / Seagrass tray / Striped cocktail tray

How chic is this black and white striped picnic basket from Mark and Graham?!  I'd be the envy of every mother at the park with this beauty!

This 20-piece bamboo-style flatware service from Horchow is perfect for outdoor entertaining and you can't beat the price for four place settings!!

This embroidered knot pillow by etsy favorite Arianna Belle is just the right nautical touch without going overboard.  LOVE.

The Avalon daybed from Serena and Lily is the stuff that summer daydreams are made of.  Literally.

A fabulous brass rope bottle opener from my favorite online shop, High Street Market, adds elegance to any bar, picnic or barbeque!

Hamptons Entertaining is seriously the most inspirational tome for spring and summer get togethers.  It's seriously my new favorite!

I can never get enough myrtle topiary (even though they don't last very long at my house).

A brass anchor door knocker makes for quite a fabulous first impression to your home.

You can never have too many seagrass serving trays for coraling drinks, appetizers or even condiments.

This black and white canopy striped cocktail tray with gold detailing takes your summer barbeque to a  WHOLE. NEW. LEVEL.

What are you loving for summer?

blue + white fabrics for spring

If you're looking to freshen up your decor for spring and summer, might I suggest a little blue and white?  Specifically, some fabulous new fabrics by the yard in the most perfect color combination from Lewis and Sheron!  I hopped onto their website in search of some fabric for throw pillows for the two chairs in my living room and naturally found myself immediately gravitating toward their collection of blue fabrics.  To say that I was impressed with the selection is a HUGE understatement!  I check their new fabrics often and there are quite a few that I haven't seen before; all of them are so well priced, I thought I'd share a few of my favorites with you all today.  From watery, pale blue to navy and lots of summer stripes, watercolor-inspired patterns and florals, there is something for everyone who loves blue and white.   Here are a few that I'm absolutely loving right now:

Row 1: Antigua / Ariza / Bellajovi

Row 2: Birmingham / Jamboree / Kai

Row 3: Keyhole / Lazy Afternoon / Leaf for Ever

Row 1: Netscape / Pavillion Fretwork / Perspective

Row 2: Reel it In / Siena / Spotkat

Row 3: Tahoma / Tibesti / Trouseau

wednesday wish list: stripes, stripes, stripes

Good morning and happy hump day!  My apologies for the silence on the blog the last few days; I've been working diligently on some exciting projects that I can't wait to share with you all!  It got up to a whopping 64 degrees yesterday, so we spent most of the day outside, taking walks and running around the yard, it was heavenly!  What better way to bring a little summer to your home and wardrobe in the middle of winter than with some nautical-inspired stripes?  Here are a few lovelies on my radar lately:

I have two of these exact chairs in flax linen in my living room and I'm thinking they would look fabulous in a ticking stripe like this Miramar chair!

Spring flowers would look amazing in this charcoal striped vase with gold edging by Jill Rosenwald.  LOVE.

This striped tote is a chic way to store shoes, games, toys.

The new fouta stripe bedding collection from Serena and Lily is heavenly!  And it's on sale now, too!

This striped ballet tee is the softest thing I own.  On major sale now, too!

A striped cotton throw is a subtle nautical touch and perfect for picnics, the beach or playing in the yard!

Love this little makeup bag - also on sale!

These French stripe napkins are a beautiful way to bring a little summer to your dinner table in the middle of winter!

hamptons haven

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  I got a babysitter for the FIRST TIME since Baby Girl was born so we could go out and celebrate a friend's birthday; given that Lydia is almost ten months old, you can imagine how big a deal this was for momma bear.  There are still nights when she wakes up quite a bit and I was so nervous she'd freak out because I wasn't there, but she slept the entire time we were gone!  While this was, for sure, the major highlight of the weekend, another was weeding through a knee-high stack of design mags that have been collecting dust since they were delivered to my mailbox over the last few months.  I fell in LOVE with this Hamptons haven and its unexpected color palette as well as the fact that this new construction home pays homage to the crumbling former edifice that once stood in its place.  I'm a huge fan of building new homes with modern luxuries to look like charming older houses and this one is a real gem!

I'm all about making a great first impression in the entry and this one accomplishes that feat in spades.  The gorgeous artwork and chest provide a pop of color, the brass sconces add warmth while the striped rug is a nod to the fact that this is still a beach house, after all:

I will always, ALWAYS think a blue and white color palette is king for a beach house, but in this living room cream, brown and charcoal with a pop of chartreuse is so calming and elegant.  The sisal rug and woven Roman blinds add just the right amount of texture:

If I had a beach house, I'm pretty sure we'd have permanent company so multiple seating areas are key.  Love this little niche in a bay window off the living room:

Cream and raspberry tones conjure images of my parent's dining room growing up in the 90's, complete with shiny brass fixtures, so who would have thought how much this dining room would appeal to me.  I would have gone with a seagrass rug to let the fabric on the dining chairs be the star of the show, but that fishing float chandelier had me at hello!

Planked walls, beautiful molding, a bold striped rug and a TO DIE FOR hunter green suede banquette, complete with brass nailhead trim is just perfection in the breakfast nook:

Black and white reign supreme in the kitchen - and that hood is quite a showstopper!

The breakfast room has its own sink and cleanup area, complete with an amazing soapstone farmhouse sink!  Love the collection of treasures on the open shelving above:

I could easily hole up in this upstairs sitting area and never leave.  From the built-in banquette and shelving to that divine oversize photograph, cowhide and planked walls and ceiling, it's such a warm, cozy and inviting spot to sit and read, blog or sip wine:

I love everything about this office and could totally see myself never getting any blogging done in this space. A muted striped rug and a Dutch door with a view right to the sea are fabulous:

This bedroom is the stuff that dreams are made of.  Of course, the gray/blue walls appeal to me; they are almost exactly the same color I have all over my own house, but I LOVE the reverse wainscoting, running on the top quarter of the wall instead of the bottom!  A floor-to-ceiling valance over the bed is a beautiful focal point in the room and the built-ins and seating area is so welcoming:

The tub in the master is divine, don't you think?

Haint blue floor and ceiling are a beautiful compliment to that amazing view:
